  • iPhone 3.0, Bluetooth audio, and RCD 310

Anyone manage to get this working? My iphone is paired with the RCD 310, but it doesn't want to stream the stereo? - it works fine as a mono headset for calling, but not for stereo audio.

    - The basic bluetooth option with RCD 310 should be able to do a2dp stereo right?

You mean the $700 bluetooth option - that DOESN'T COME with a2dp bluetooth audio? , only the premium does?

AFAIK the basic BT does not do A2DP.

Is A2DP now enabled with the latest iphone update?

Will have to test it on my kit, but bluetooth audio is pretty yuk anyway (and wastes your battery i assume) - i'd look at getting an ipod kit/cable, or burn some cds

Mate, your RCD310 does not have bluetooth, so can't pair with anything. Your phone pairs with your Bluetooth kit, not the RCD310.

Please clarify which BT kit you have. You say your Nokia streams A2DP to it?

I have streamed A2DP from my iPhone 3G 3.0 but it's crap. Sound is awful, it is a pain in the ass to control, and jumps occasionally.

My BT kit is the basic $700 kit - dealer fitted. It streams A2DP stereo from my nokia fine, but not from the iPhone. And my iphone streams audio fine (I've got an av receiver that can do BT, and it streams fine from my iphone).

                My RCD DOES have bluetooth.

Well it is unique if it does.... but you obviously know best.

RCD310 does not have BT built-in. They can be integrated using either factory installed or aftermarket BT systems, but the system itself does not have BT.

How do you make the Nokia stream A2DP as the $700 VW BT system does not have any controls to start / stop that?

                    Look, the RCD 310 basically:
                    - In the setup menu: BLUETOOTH AUDIO: On / Off.
                    - If you switch them to "ON", then I can stream my Nokia to the unit - as well as receive phone & answer the phone from the steering wheel.
                    - You play & stop from your phone and not from the unit.

I mean, it's not that I need to use the bluetooth function, but just want to get them working.... For my day to day music, I connect the media-in kit to a 320GB hard drive, and control & browse the music from the RCD 310. Just curious why it doesn't work with my iphone.

Cool. The RCD310 is using the BT kit's BT - that's interesting to know. That's the integration though, the RCD310 doesn't have BT natively. Your phone is paired with the kit, not the RCD310.

What happens is when you set the RCD310 to Bluetooth Audio on, it switches into "phone" mode full-time. So whatever audio your phone is outputting will come through it. If you play a game with audio it will come through, the media player on the phone will come through, etc.

What's interesting is that my iPhone (3G, 3.0) will also do exactly that. My BT (Fiscon) has A2DP which I can manually activate from the head unit or the MFD, but I don't bother cos the sound isn't good enuf. But if my iPhone makes a sound it gets pushed through the stereo regardless (ipod, games with sound, calendar alerts).
