  • RNS510 Dowloading music to hard drive

I apoligise in advance if this has alrady been asked.
Just wanted some help with downloading data to the hard drive of rns510.
I have tried to download straight fron cd, but does not seem to work. Can it be downloaded straight from cd, or does it havr to come from an mp3 player. I have an iriver mp3 player & not sure how that would work either. Some advise on this matter would be greatly appreciated. If it has already been discussed, please point me in the right direction.

My ride is a silver 3 door pirelli with nav, sensors & tint. Done 600 km, absolutly beautiful.

I think, and could be very wrong on this as mine is only a week old as well. You may need to use a media card SD type or a dvd to load onto the harddrive. I remember reading on a UK forum about someone using a 4GB SD card to load on 20GB of music.

I just picked up my new Passat with the RNS510... according to the manual you can only load MP3 (and .WAV I think) from a standard SD card with maximum 2gig capacity.

I did just that and loaded stuff onto the hard drive without any problems.

Best way to do it is to burn it to DVD's and copy it on that way. You can leave it copying when you leave the car and it will continue on for a while before turning off. I find that I can get ~2-2.5GB copied before it turns off.

I have a guide on the layout of the filesystem to make it easiest to manage and reload if you have to (some firmware updates format the drive)
