anyone knows where to source/download a copy of AU map for RNS510?

Apparently the forum doesn't allow the discussion of downloading files etc due to it being 'illegal'... though dealer has quoted me $450 for the latest version, and another 'source' has mentioned that you can run TomTom software off the SD card in the RNS510.

No need to download, if you are keen and live in Sydney and want to drive out to Camden (South West) I can drop my CD into your dash and load it for nothing.....

Has anyone purchased a genuine RNS510 from ebay and successfully loaded AU maps onto it (legit or other). I've worked out if i get one off ebay I could save myself almost AU$1500...but it would come with EU maps

I would have thought the maps would be tied to a single GPS unit (like Mio's and Tomtom's, I think the maps are usually locked to the serial number of the GPS or something to prevent copyright infringement).

My brother had the previous RNS510 maps on his unit, I have the new RNS510 V2 maps, i simply put my DVD in his RNS and it upgraded the maps no problem.

Yeah I've purchased one already, problem for me is the maps. I'm not sure I'm interested in getting the Tomtom on it or looking for original AU map. I've heard alot of bad stuff about the map that comes from VAG, sooo we'll see.

Mate I got one from europe and installed it all good! Only problem is to get the maps otherwise it will work.

I got one from a group buy in Singapore (from maps in the unit, I gather its ex-Netherlands).

managed to scrounge a v2 map and it works beautifully. only snag is the limited functionality of the multi-function steering wheel. mine's a mk 6 tsi btw
