  • Apple Carplay, Very little audio out of headunit when on the phone.

    Hey VW watercooled legends,

I am in real need of your valued advice.

I will put in as much as I know in hope to save questions and your time.

    Head unit is MIB STD2
    Phone is: iPhone 16 Pro

I have a 2022 VW Amarok V6 580 with a stock headunit with apple carplay and it was working well before the speaker and amplifier upgrade.

We upgraded all of the door speakers and installed two subs. Using the stock headunit, speaker line to an Audio Control LCi7 then line level to two amplifiers, then full speaker wire upgrade to all of the new speakers.

Radio, CD and Apps through the phone, through carplay, spotify and the like work well at normal volume. but as soon as you get a call through carplay, the volume drops to 0.5% you can hear it but its very low volume. They can hear me quite clearly.
Yes, the headunit "phone" volume is on max
Yes the iphone volume is on Max
Voice enhancer is turned off, turning it on brings a squelch at very high volume.

I have gone through all of the settings on the phone and on the head unit. I have changed all of the settings and then turned them back to the original setting. I cant find anything that made any change, except Voice enhancer.

Back of the head unit: no issues with connector B and C, Connector A has pins 1 to 8 have been cut and connected to converter by speaker wire.

I have searched for months looking for anything on the net and on this forum.

I am hoping you can help.

    Thanks for your time.

Try changing the LCi7 into summed mode. The MIB can direct voice in phone mode to the tweeters for better voice quality.
