Hi and thanks for looking, I've got a question and I not sure I'm getting the help or answers from my dealer so I am hoping someone can help me! I've just picked up my new Golf TDI DSG Pacific with reverse parking sensors and Sat Nav, now here's the thing when they quoted for the Sat Nav they quoted on a RNS510, but upon delivery I have a Sat Nav that starts up with RNS MFD2 I'm not sure, but are these two things the same? Sorry if I sound stupid but I'm not getting a answer out of my dealer (salesman off sick, off on a RDO etc) also no manual was included for the Sat Nav so I can't even learn to use it!! Does anyone have any insights for me? Thanks

mfd2 = old model and crap
rns510 = new model and much better
if they quoted you for a 510 then definitely demand they install one.2x Caddy, 1x Ducato

Looks like they got a car without the satnav (RNS510) and becasue they cannot obtain them, as afterproduction, they installed the old model.
Go and create hell. I know they are desperately trying to offload those old units.
Another thing they tend to do is tell you the 510 also incorporates bluetooth. It apparently does not. That is another $1,000 if you go factory.MY22 Tiguan 162 Elegance

As them to "Please Explain" then ask politley to speak to Dealer Principal, then ask politley to be directed to VW Australia Customer Service.
First of all, check your purchase order and invoice. Even if it says "Supply SatNav" and the car was built after the release of the RNS510, you can claim the RNS 510, as that was the one described in the Brochure.MY22 Tiguan 162 Elegance

So I've been into the dealer, and the salesperson, has rectified the problem, they will source manuals for the current MFD2, while I wait for them to get a RNS510 (probably Jan 09) and fit that one. Talk about happy, I don't suppose they really could get away with it after all. The salesperson did tell me the difference had to come out of his wage, I tried to look sympathetic but told him the RNS510 had already come out of mine!!! Hopefully they'll get it earlier, also got them to put it in writing on dealership letterhead, not sure why I doubt their integrity ! Thanks to all who contributed!

Others (Maverick et al) will know, but I thought there was a problem with FULL intergration with an after market fitment of an RNS510. Isn't it a case of not all functions being available...or am I completely wrong (won't be the first time, nor the last)MY16 Touareg 4.2Lt V8 TDI/Pure White LED lightbox/REDARC Brake Controller/ Racechip/iDrive Throttle controller

I think the 510 will fully integrate when installed aftermarket, but I also understand some mod needs to be done to the car computer.
Dealers are not getting any RNS510's for fitting, and last report was a wait for 6 months.
However I understand that Harding Performance (hp.net.au) is getting these into the country with about a 4 week wait.MY22 Tiguan 162 Elegance
