  • And it begins!

So the stereo begins in the Jetta... I just cant go without the good stereo. I tried for about 2 weeks, and it just doesnt cut it.

Old car had MB Quart front splits, JL W3 10inch, top eclipse deck (kept getting changed, thats another story...) And an insane amount of sound deadening. Hence wanting something a bit better than stock this time...

So I got one of these, to power the sub, and the standard front speakers.
    http://www.alpine.com.au/products/pr...sp?modelID=263
    Sub
    http://www.imagedynamicsusa.com/prod...hp?Family_Id=3
And then one of these to make it all work, I also got the sub control so I can play around with that where needs be.
    http://www.mobileaudiocontrol.com/pr...2&l1=17612&l2=
Custom fiberglass box for the sub, make it all look factory, and still maintain boot space.

Then the plan is to save up, get some 3way dyns for the front, then work out if I want to go nuts and change the head deck to control it all...

nice selection on gear, The LC6i will cost you more than a replacement headunit.

Just get a alpine 9887. and the amp and most certainly the IDQ10 those things are amazing, so clean and natural and best of all can produce if need be.
And of course the PDX 4.150 very nice amp, amp the front and the 2 rear channels to the IDQ. you will be set, but i'm sure you will want to upgrade the front speakers then,.

The RF 3.sixty2 is supposed to be a bit of alright for someone who wants a factory look. All controlled via bluetooth onto a Palm

JL make a Soundsweep and Alpine are bring out one soon as well. Might be worth a look as the JL and RF under RRP$1k

The LC6i is only costing $420 inc the subcontrol before all the discount etc is worked out. Its not just the cost of a new deck, but then the install, and I like having the stacker, so that cost would too then be added in, it would be a fair bit more. Really the major cost in all this is the amp, its almost 100% more than the sub. And yes I know decks these days can use all the factory funtionallity.

Next thing I dare say will be probably dyn 3 ways, few guys already have them in their Golfs, so I'll try hit them up for a listen first. Really thats going to get the most gains in my eyes (or ears as the case may be). Then a deck later on to control it all, if money permits. The standard will no doubt be the weak link by then.

I had store credit on a new eclipse 7200 due to the problems I had on all the other ones(7100 and one that came out before that), otherwise I would have done things differently.

Dude do it once, do it right, and save yourself a lot of money. At least in the future you can upgrade with at least the EQL to adjust your response.

          RF 3sixty.1 is only $499

          Store credits are great!!

$US? Cause I checked some prices last night and the looked to be $800 off some dodgy net site.

Either way, I'll probably go a top end deck later on down the track, its going to have a better reproduction than the standard cd player.

something else I can highly recommend if you are wanting to replace your factory speaker, as long as you are going to at least $600 - $900 range, otherwise TBH it would be a waste of money.

I have now setup 6 mk4 golf’s/mk4 R32's. And every single setup still uses the factory speakers.

I have MB Quartz, Infinity Kappa + Kappa Perfect 6.1 and RE Audio 6's I have tried them all they do have their benefit, But for overall tonality the factory mk4 speakers are remarkable.

Heck guys over in South Africa, are still competing in SQ with the factory front end. And take 1st prices too.

Well it went in today, so should be ready by Thursday, they did orginally say Tuesday, but I can't pick it up until Thursday anyway. They are taking pics of the whole process, so I'll wack them up when I get it back. Quite excited now!

Sounds pretty good so far, needs more running in obviously to loosen it up. But more importantly... PICS!!!

Gotta love the job don't you? There is nothing better than a "clean" looking install of quality audio. Schmick job on the sub box and related gear.

                          Who did the sub box?

Northfield Moorooka, in Brisbane. They are deadset the best. Best gear, best knowledge, best installers. In SEQ at least. It is exactly what I wanted, stock look, still got 99% of the boot useable.

They did a really good job of my doors on the Cefiro as well.

I mean the install is good, but the amount of effort they went to, to get me a full refund on a dodgy eclipse head deck I had was the clincher.
