Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

looking for a reliable professional car audio specialist Sydney. Desperate to upgrade the sound system in my 2017 Tiguan ....don’t want to be ripped off or have my car wrecked. Anyone done an upgrade other than Dynaudio and if so, where? Looking at adding an amp and/ or upgrading the speakers. Thanks !

Hi, I got the Audison upgrade done in my golf by Lifestyle Store Parramatta, I would recommend them. Added digital sound processor, speaker and sub.

The other are Doyles which did work on my previous car who did good work as well.

If the Audison upgrade fits the Tiguan, I'd recommend that as well. It For sound quality and imaging rather than flat out SPL, I'd recommend adding a sound processor and a small Dd sub.

Hi thanks for the reply. Can I plse ask what a Dd sub is? Also not familiar with the sound processor idea?

Digital Designs it’s a brand of sub.. big bass from s little woofer.. any good quality sound system is only as good as its source.. the car head units are terrible and the sound processor cleans up the signal and provides more accurate imaging making the experience more immersive..

Ask parra lifestyle store for a demo.. or if you’re close to Ultimo in syd I’d be happy to show you my setup

Thanku! That’s very kind. I’ll try and get to Lifestyle if I can. Glad u confirmed how crappy the head unit is. CDs especially sound disappointing.

I went to Strathfield Brookvale at Brookvale, I installed an amp/dsp combo, front speakers and sub for $500 (I had to pay a little bit extra because I had active configuration for the front speakers). This is for installation cost by the way. Cheapest from reputable installer. I went to Lifestyle and they quoted me $800 for the installation, and they was going to charge another $400 to do a basic tuning.

Not sure what is your budget, but I can give you recommendation on components as I did research on the best bang for my buck. Including the $500 installation cost, I spent $2800.

The head unit only gives 4 x 25watt power so if you are getting aftermarket speakers, make sure they get enough power
