  • 2011/12 Octavia RS VCDS scan

    Hi everyone,

I have a problem with the coding in my car (I think) and was wondering if someone wouldn't mind posting a scan of their 2011 (MY12) Octavia RS please?

Ideally one equipped with 147TSI with DSG, RNS510 and 9WZ Bluetooth. But ill take anything.

The automatic setting of the headlights puts them always on, and I have no cluster illumination. Im thinking something isn't ticked in the gateway installation. But I don't want to randomly select things.

    thank you!

im not sure where that setting is. where would I find that?

however a scan revealed this. I think my headlight switch might be faulty

It's one of the tick boxes.

Unfortunately, I haven't got my cable at the moment or I'd do a screen shot for you.

if its not that setting, my switch - or dimmer - could be faulty

as brad said - sounds like Scandinavian setting.

although an MY11, i do have the same as urs - "147TSI with DSG, RNS510 and 9WZ Bluetooth"
              unfortunately i don't have a VCDS cable on me - so i can't help u there.

in the meantime i'll c if i can't find the vcds instructions for turning "Scandinavian" on/off.

                much appreciated.

I hope its that easy. its really hard to drive at night without illuminating dials and the satnav like a spot light in your eyes

I did a google of this setting, I may have found it. but wont know till tonight when I get home

                  found it!

Byte 00 Bit 3 set to on in Central electronics module.

ill change it when I get home. see if that fixes it. if not, its off the skoda I go!

make sure the rheostat for the dash lights is set above zero.

If you are on Scandinavian settings the dashlights *should* come on at night (and the headlights should brighten a fraction)

see that's the problem. im getting no illumination no matter what setting I have it on.

the light switch works fine in all positions except for 'Auto' where they are always on.

its possible the dimmer is faulty too. ill try the setting tonight and see how I go

ok, turns out it was all coding

looks like the BCM performs the dimming.

now with all my mucking around. ive stuffed up the DRLs. they no long illuminate. instead my tail lights come on!!!

any ideas what that may be?

CH/LH lights didnt work. but i had the door open already when i removed the key. ill find out tomorrow at work if that works.

also, rear demister still not working. if i cant get this stuff working, ill take a run to skoda.

VERY happy now that the instrument cluster lights up

                              also to anyone interested:

the correct lights coding for a RHD Octavia RS facelift model is 01011011 or 5B in hex.
