  • Coming/Leaving light fade

As I want to convert to HID for Lo-Beam and Fog lights, I'd need to cancel the fading effect of the lights. Is there a way to do this?

Can i use the DRLs for coming/leaving lights instead of headlight or fog?

Car in quetion is a MY12 Skoda Octavia RS

    Thanks!

    Sure is.

Unfortunately not. I can help you un code the fog lights if you like.

That said you can control how early and how long the cornering fog stays on and off for. If you max it out it might be enough for the ballast to catch up?

Also you can use the high beam as the cornering fade light and reduce it's brightness if need be. I never found it effective though...

thanks for the offer, im comfortable uncoding the fog lights as i coded them myself.

the cornering lights are handy, but not essential.

ive been googling, doesnt look like there is a way to have the DRLs as the CH/LH lights. its either fogs or headlights.

I used to have a set of H1 SMDs in my fog lights for my Stagea, they were pretty poor for actual light. perfect colour match to the HIDs however. maybe ill look into another set of them

u cannot use the DRLs for CH/LH functionality.
the control module simply doesn't allow that.
        .....atleast for the octavia rs.

if u want the foggies to match ur hid globes, put whiter halogen globes in ur foggies. save u the hassle of putting hids in ur foggies and blowing the balasts.

alternatively, disable ur CH/LH altogether. by the sounds of it, u won't miss it.

          ok thanks, that confirms it!

nah i love the CH/LH lights, my complex has dark patches and my work carpark..... well, lets say they like to save power lol

youre exactly right, ill get some decent halogens for the fogs. anyone used 100w globes? pretty sure the wiring will be fine, just worried the heat will affect the housing

+1. the heating of the 100w globe would worry me to. though rare, there 85w globes too. however i don't know if any exist for the particular globe size for the foggies on the vrs.
then again, both the 85 & 100w globes can only legally b used for "off-road" purposes.

i've heard some pretty good things about phillips xtreme globes.

Ive owned a lot of cars with parts that were 'offroad only' and 'for race purposes only' however they worked perfectly fine on the road

didnt know there were 85w globes available, i might try a set and see how they go

              thanks again for your help

I ran 100W high beams in my Sorento, after I got fed up with the H1 HID kit and its useless beam pattern. (Same kit as in my RS, now!)

                No issues at all.
                Don't know about fogs, though.

Why would you wish to disable coming/leaving lights just because of HID conversion?

Why would you want HIDs in the fogs?

I dont want to disable the CH/LH function, only the fade effect. however, i will disable the function if i do convert the fogs to HID

because i like around 6000k colour temp of lights at night time, and before you suggest the halogen versions with blue paint on the globe, that affects the output. HID is the way to go IMO, all cars should be equipped with them.

Seems a bit pointless as its illegal to have the fogs on if the weather is not such to need them

Commonly called W++ker lights up here in QLD and the cops are supposedly going to crack down on their incorrect use
