Slightly drop windows to assist with door closure? Similar to Audi??

Hi everyone,

My last car was a 2008 Audi TT (the GTI is better!!) and it had a pretty cool feature that I would like to see in the GTI. When you open the door, the car would automatically drop that doors window an inch or so, then once you have closed the door, the window fully closes it self. This basically makes closing the door a lot easier as there is no negative pressure fighting the door closure. It was only a little thing, but I'm finding myself slamming the GTI's doors as often they don't close fully.

Since there appears to be a lot in common between the VW's and the Audi's I was wondering if anyone has seen a way to enable this via programming, or is it an Audi only differentiator

Don't the windows drop on the TT because the windows are frameless? And with the GTI having framed windows it isn't needed for the window to drop. Correct me if I'm wrong though as I don't go in newer VW's very often and new audi's even less often!!

featured on frameless windows. they drop when the door is opened in order to clear the rubber channel and allow the door to open without flexing the glass.

OK, so the inclusion on frameless models makes sense. Given that is is supported on the Passat and EOS, is is a programmable option on the Golf, or do those other models use a different system?

get a bent mk1, then you'll know about slamming doors.

Its perhaps the adjustment of the doors on your GTI that is the problem (if it really is difficult). I find the doors on my octavia close very easily with the windows closed.

You could try lubricating the locks as a first measure. This often helps a lot.

not exactly wat ur after, but if u keep pressing the 'unlock' button for 3 secs and let go, it will drop all the windows an inch or two.
u'd have to close the windows though after getting in and closing the door.

i find this very handy in summer. as i approach the car - drop all the windows on unlock.
if only it could auto-start and fire up the ac at a cool 19 degrees as well.......hmmm.

Thanks guys,

I took the car back to the dealer yesterday and they agreed the drivers door was rather difficult to shut. After a couple of small adjustments and a little silicon grease it's now perfect.
