I bought this one recently and it works with VCDS-Lite. So functionality provided depends on whatever VCDS-Lite gives you.. I can check and clear codes, change some settings etc.

The Ross-Tech site is a bit confusing - it says that VCDS lite won't work with CAN-Bus vehicles. I thought that VAG uses CAN-Bus

It's all good I doubt myself a lot! It seems that 2003+ vehicles have CAN-BUS (Ross-Tech: VAG-COM: CAN-Bus Information) but mine's 2002 so it works on mine.
