Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

  • Tuning your Golf R wagon

Just out of interest have any members tuned or planning on tuning their Golf R wagon (I guess it's the same as the Golf R) but yeah.

What are you planning to do to it?
What have you done to it?
Any reason you're not doing anything to it (warranty)?

Seems like with relatively small mods the power gains are substantial.
    Fuel pressure reg
    Fuel pump
    Inlet mani
    TB
    Exhaust + DP
    Turbine (or larger turbo)

    Strengthening the DSG

Well get it very close if not to 500bhp

Yes exactly the same options for the Golf R wagon as the hatch.

The only thing that is possibly different is the exhaust - I imagine that the wagon may be slightly longer (likely in the mid-pipe).

I guess the thread also applies to MY16 Golf R owners as well was mostly just seeing what people were doing to their wagons as I can't seem much being done apart from boot liners...

I have lots of ideas but am a bit wary of the warranty and resale value.

A new exhaust is quite high on my list and I'd like the Discovery Pro head unit (bigger screen and DAB+).

I'll probably start with upgrading the non-LED lights to LED!

400 - 420hp can be had from the stock turbo. For 500hp you will need Stage 3.

From our initial testing, the Wagon MY 16's exhaust seems to be way more restrictive than the sedan (diameter & where it splits). Good thing is Milltek already have their wagon systems available (already in stock here)

Has anyone seen / heard the milltek system on the wagon? I've got 4,000 kms on my Wolfie and I want more rortiness from the pipes. My mkv gti had a better note.
