Overall gain as opposed to factory manifold is bugger all , its the midrange gain that makes it worth it . 2 inch is too big , 1 3/4 is the biggest I would go . Work out volumetric efficiency of each cylinder and you will see why

I'm with you Loon
When I brought & fitted a set of hurricane 4-2-1 extractors along with a full 2" system with a single hotdog(resonator) and 2.5" straight through muffler along time ago & tuned it, I couldn't believe the difference it made.
You didn't need a dyno graph to tell you it was making more power, could feel it all the way through the power range. It was sharp & very responsive (especially when I had 3" straight through rear muffler but after 1.5 years of driving to Melb and getting older & wiser, the noise got too much.)
I've since changed back to a rear 2" muffler, and doing that the engine isn't as sharp or responsive as it used to be but is a hell of alot better on the ears.
I brought these in 1996 from a local exhaust place.
I just rang Exhaust Bros (03) 5277 9719 and the still have a listing for Hurricanes 4-2-1 & can still get them.
They quoted $330 fitted or $280 supplied.

Are we talking about individual header size or exhaust size ?
The other thing to note is there is no point changing exhaust on stock engine , the gains are minimal , its only once compression is raised , cams and valves are fitted that you should look into changing exhaustBug_racer supports the rebellion of the euro revolution
