9A Golf engine versus 2.0 FSI

Can someone familiar with the FSI engine tell me the differeneces.

They appear to have the same bore and stroke, are they totally
different or are the dimensions physically similar etc.

Just curious, with the 9A engines getting on a bit, was thinking about
using FSI engines in future.

Very different is all I can say, try doing a search on the "club gti uk" forum someone pulled an FSI engine appart and you can see the pistons and cylinder head are a very strange shape.

You would have an extra 10kw to start with, but I would say that it would be very challenging to do a converssion in the way of electrics & you would need to put in an extra engine mount

You could probably use passat ADR engines, they come in Audis too.
20V NA. They are a bit taller too.

Or you could accept the taller block as necessary and run 2E 2L bottom ends from a Golf 3, they are cheap and reliable.

Got a 2.0 FSI engine right here,buy it,fit it and tell us all how easy it is.

Just wondering, IF we end up collaborating with VW australia,
we might think about using/racing FSI engines. If they are taller by a
significant margin thats a hassle because it raises the centre of gravity
of the engines mass and hence the car.

Not normally an issue in a road car but in an open wheeler it does.

Had a look at "club gti uk" great site, couldnt find the comparison tho.........
