Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. • What ECU tune is better - APR or ABT

Hi just picked up my GTI, have been driving around a MK5 TDI for the last 10 yrs.

Anyway looking to do a ECU tune and I have decided it is either APR or ABT sportsline.

Has anyone had or issues with either?

    The APR IS $1650
    The ABT is $3300

I have been told the ABT is undetectable as it uses a piggy back ECU and gets located in the engine bay. Also has some great warranty.

I'm in Perth too so there is a lack of tuners here.

    Cheers.

of course the more expensive the better

this topic has been discussed to death in many forums and almost caused riots and fights too!

if worried about warranty (the warranty clause is clear cut and if lawyers are involved, you won't win), don't mod.

Both are larger tuners and invest a fair amount into R&D.

I have seen the ABT warranty which is advertised as piggybacking the manufacturers warranty to give you peace of mind, but have not read the fine print. If you're still involved in an incident then you don't want to get stuck in the middle of a VWA v ABT argument - it would definitely pay to check it out completely.

Ergo price and results matter as well.

IMO though there is clearly only one choice and it's A.. just kidding. I value my life.

When I was looking into the ABT warranty the following statement from them makes it void for me as it is really only a warm and fuzzy feeling...

Additional alterations to the vehicle which have indirect or direct influence on our deliveries and rendered services void all warranty claims to Abt Sportsline

Looks like I will be getting the APR tune. Price wise it's quite good. A lot of very good reviews.
            Thanks for your input.

$3300 for a piggy back !!. I know which option I would choose out of those two
