Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

  • ECU Tune for 103 TSI (Golf VII)

Hi, I was looking for an ECU tuning solution for my MY2014 Golf VII 1.4L 103KW TSI and happened to stumble upon these ECU tuning products online. Just wondering if anyone has tried them. APR Australia does not seem to have a solution for the 103 TSI yet. Only choice for now is a custom tune. I would rather purchase an off-the-shelf program that has been tried and tested.

Seeing that it is German made (tuned?), I am inclined to believe that the tune maps should be a rather conservative rather than all out power - perhaps a lower risk to the engine / gearbox (...or is it a "famous last words" scenario?). I am not crazy on power, nor do I have a heavy right foot... in case anyone is asking. Just need a bit more juice from the engine when over-taking or merging into highway traffic.

Installation looks fuss free as per the Youtube video from a similar product.

    Any thoughts?

If you were in SA I could do a proper remap on your Golf7, without opening the ECU. I steer clear from the tuning boxes that connect with the 2 wires and just trick the ECU.

Thank you for the offer. SA is a little too far for me to make a trip. Work and family commitments.
