Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

I've finally got to drive my car with 3.1 installed. It feels like the power is on tap right throughout the rev range and is progressive & linear right through to 7100 rpm in D mode in 1st & 2nd there is wheel spin but still rapid acceleration you can feel torque management restricting excessive wheel spin. There isn't any peaks & troughs in power delivery as in v2.2 where power came in violently then roasted the tyres. Car feels to be accelerating faster due to better traction with TC switched on, haven't tried it switched off yet. IMO car is faster utilising a more linear flatter torque curve combined with much improved use of traction control. If you prefer the fun factor of v2.2 where max torque comes in violently with lots of wheel spin then don't bother with 3.1. Also induction roar & sound through the exhaust has become more aggressive, more "race car like". In summary, 3.1 is the smarter tune giving unrelenting power all the way to redline, where v2.2 in a way was more fun & hoony. My car has "grown up" and become more of a euro sports car haha

Good review Goddy - A lot of it is the "traction control" strategy so you can drive through a lot of the old factory intervention without throttle cut! - End result = faster car.

Thanks Guy, yeah I found with the old tune, I would drive with TC switched off as throttle cut was annoying. Now it's the opposite I leave TC switched on, it's so much better that way. Loving the new driving experience

                        Cheers
