  • 2014 Golf R - REVO Stage 1 0-100kms in 3.7sec! Should I?

    Hi all,

I was just wondering who owns a Mk7 R DSG and is looking at a stage 1 REVO flash.

I am interested as there is a special going at the moment for sub-$1000 inc GST and says it could add 75hp on top of the stock output and brings 0-100kms in just under 3.7sec!

It's so darn tempting! but with less than 2,000kms on the clock and the new car smell - the warranty being voided on the powertrain (and voiding warranty on any associated stress on other components) is what frightens me.

Plus, based on what REVO has sent me, VW is able to detect that the ECU has been modified once the dealer plugs the car in at diagnostics stage during service and records this info on their database - No way around this.

So...I am asking those who have done it or considering doing this, and provide some of your insight...

    Thanks in advance.

If you're worried about warranty the don't do it now. If you're not worried about warranty then go for it!!! Simple as that.

If you want to play then be prepared to pay. If they don't void your warranty consider it a bonus

        Gotta pay to play

Sounds great performance figure (3.7s) but IMO realistically yes you are gaining a second but really does it matter. The Car at its stock level will be difficult to use its full potential (legally). I don't think there would be many buyers interested in a second hand VW that was modified.. So not only you loose warranty, but the potential to sell it at market value.

What's that got to do with:

                ???????
                It's 2 different issues.

Generally, I'm one of those people that look at the consequences further down the line but I'm really glad I had my car remapped 85,000km ago. It's been 6 years of absolute pleasure & the car is easier to drive with the map than without.

What's the vehicle worth unmodified? bugger-all
                value modified: bugger-all
what have I lost - nothing

Have you ever had a vehicle with a remap or other mods?

Hmm...A 1.4 sec 0-100 gain from stock? Count me as the first sceptic.

2muchcoffeeman, my car is 1.4 seconds quicker from stock with APR stage 1...

If I could afford a mk7 golf r I think I'd find it difficult to resist the REVO or APR tune When it's available.

An update to the 7R, which HAS NOT received a tune...And lucky I didn't do it...

7R just died today on side of freeway

Suggest those who want to do it; check your turbo serial numbers...

you have more choices than those two.

Go and see mark (parso_rex) at Recode in Miranda. He does good stuff & puts the car on the dyno with a sniffer so the Af ratios etc are all checked / optimised.
