Yeah, but this one is apparently easy to put on and off without leaving any trace behind... I dont want the volkswagen service centre re mapping it every time I get a service done?

Almost all tuners will allow a free reflash if a dealer updates your ECU while in service.
Also, while they may be easy to get on or off, they are very crude and you are dealing with sensitive electronics and mapping in a 30k car.

Don't go with a chip, period. Always use a tune.

Do some searching and you'll find out why.

Can anyone give me a rough estimate on how much a tune will cost me?

Between $650ish to $1800ish depending on vendor & what options you choose. eg: multiple maps, generic self-load tune, more targetted tune with dyno runs, tune with super-duper warranty, German tunes, American tunes, pommie tunes, tunes with extra hardware, etc

There would be several threads on this subject in the tuning & performance area that give vendors names & approximate pricing.

                        Mystically!
I have a b7 passat with 125 tdi I am looking to tune.
How is your tune compared to say APR, ottienger etc?
Also did you get a dyno after the tune?

APR doesn't do diesel, so I don't know. I also haven't tried Ottienger.
If I had to do it all over again, I'd go Darkside Developments because >omg hard cut on redline<

I've had it dyno'd... Stock was 135kW/361Nm @ the fly; Stage 2 is 150kW/361Nm @ the fly... Something strange going on, but I think it has to do with the lack of resistance on the rollers on the dyno, as boost took up until 3k rpm to actually come up, and the torque curve is nothing until 2,750rpm, then goes straight up. Have to have another dyno run with upped roller resistance I think.

For $1750 it only shaves .4 seconds off the standard 0-100
What about Revo is it the same or more?
I was hoping it would shave atleast 1 second off
