Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

ID:	1862703Can anyone help with this question. Have purchased InterEngineering/JE piston set, they didn't have beargins in stock so went with OEM beargings. IE rods have bearing slots, beargings do not have a tag, neither did original rods. Will it be ok to fit the OEM bearings to these rods. I now see on their site, the ACL bearings have a tag to suit the rods. Does anyone know a supplier in Oz who may have bearings in stock.
    Cheers Guys

Don't quote me but I reckon you need bearings from an early 1.8 VW. To be sure I'd be emailing IE or checking VWVortex/facebook for the definitive answer.

      Thanks Gavin,
Will be checking, bought from CTS turbo, will probably order from them tonight, interesting they list their brgs for 4cyl VW, guess that covers 1.8 & 2.0l. Just wanted to check, i was a VW mechanic over 25yrs ago. Never even thought that brgs/rod wouldn't have tags/slots. Looks like i'll be waiting a bit longer.
      cheers

All the diesel bearings ive ever bought have the tags too... I would almost bet they are all the same.

Tooley Imports will have bearings in stock.
