So will anyone ever crack this ecu or is no one trying.
Stuck in mod limbo at the moment.
To all the tuners any input?
Or is it time to buy new car?

We have an update on the tool progress from APR yesterday, it's underway, but the tool is a least 45 - 60 days out at this stage.
Ok. Thanks Guy. Get that exhaust and intercooler ready also.

Just got told by james from harding performance that they probably wont even get the tooling done until nxt year. Chances are the tuning/tooling for mk7 golf gti looks more promising.

I thought no one was able to tune/crack the polo 13 gti bosch ecu med17.5.5 hw: ho2 . Are u referring to tuning the pre updated ecu with the 1.4 CAVE engine ???
Let me double check on that one... see the H02 from what I can see means little to me usually a process of what HW/SW numbers are possible. I do get on well with the Euro dev guys peronally so I'll ask about the later stuff 2013 specifically and report back. Usually the bigger companies are working on this constantly anyway and once the ECU's are 'cracked' so to speak the bigger tune providers then go about tuning the things and the products are released - still its very much a case of demand and by that I mean if the likely market is small then the speed at which it comes to market will of course be slower than a faster moving product.
Even if we could access the ECU we would then have to establish that we can tune the car properly....pretty sure that would be an issue but that's how we work. Basically Its not a quick process
Any news? I'm waiting, like many others I suspect.
Might be a long shot because the guys OS have no problems doing this particular version but they have asked if you have a picture of the ECU board itself just to verify that it is not something different to what they already have. From what I have seen here the 17.5.5 has been out since last year with a few variations in the protection depending on the model so essentially they can all be done.......BUT
being able to read and write the file is one part....being able to tune the thing is another and at the moment we choose to not to tune them locally due to the reliability of the engine itself.
This might be a bit extreme but to date I have put them all in the same basket as the earlier twincharge motors (which ran stupidly lean stock tunes) as the potential risk of damaged hardware is something I have to factor in when tuning one and its not going to be good for my rep should one to fail to a previously unnoticed but damaged component. I guess I will probably have to look at this next year when we expand a bit as I have access to great files for all the twincharge engines and the turbo ones too.
I will post up a pic of the board when this damned update finally completes

Not sure if you are asking me personally? I can take pics of the outside of the ecu only?
I have been shopping around, as we all do -
1. Kraftwerk has advised me it has a Power Module available to suit this ecu, I did not get back much in the way of details but it's a piggy back style with maybe limited parameters that can be adjusted/tuned. Not cheap!
2. APR are suggesting about Feb. next year.
3. Viezu will have a piggy back style with large No parameters for this style, hopefully early in the new year.
4. Tarmac engineering are hopeful early next year of having a SpecTune device for the BOSCH MED17 ECU.
5. AutoLogic, hopeful also of something earlyish next year.
Seems there is some hope, I hope!

OK just received a reply confirming that everyone with these is screwed as far as our stuff goes
Sorry to get peoples hopes up
Re the interceptors every provider seems to be using these now with limited succes. We have both the Superchips and rapid versions but I would only use these where we have no other option. Certainly they seem to work well on the new AMGs though

So does this mean you are looking for twinchargers to tune in the future?
2012 Fabia II VRS Estate - APR stage 2 tune, Custom 2.5" turbo back full stainless exhaust with ceramic coated dump pipe, Harding Performance Cold air intake, Wagner Tuning Competition Intercooler, GFB DV+ diverter valve, Braille B2317RP battery, Eibach pro kit springs, Bilstein B8 shocks, Harding Performance F+R ARB, Super Pro bushes, Porsche 986 Boxster S front brake calipers, 330x28mm front rotors, Ferodo DS2500 front pads and Remsa rear pads, Enkei RPF1 17x8 et.35 with 235/40R17 Yokohama AD08R tyres, Maxton front splitter and Superskoda fender flares.

I've caved in..we are doing one next week, the car is currently going very well with a Superchips tune on it at the moment but we will log the thing intensively and see if we feel there are any gains to be made. This one has a few goodies fitted too so it should be a good example
its a 2009 with encrypted ECU but not at all like the one above
Perhaps this is better in the 118TSI thread and not this one
