Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

  • K04 in A3

Like the title says, am about to fit a K04 in my 05 2.0t DSG A3 FWD, should be veeerry interesting. Any way, am doing some pre work so the K04 install is as painless as possible. I have a K&N typhoon CAI, am fitting a D/V relocate, already have Silicone hose, just wondering would it make a huge difference if plumbed in before the MAF, all installs i've seen, are after the MAF. Not sure how the ECU will handle it.

Definitely needs to be after the MAF as that air has already been accounted for and if it goes missing the ECU will think something is not quite right

You could still do it to a degree but for pretty much an MAF based car you want the air mass to remain unaltered. Think of it being just better to do it the OEM way and eliminate any tune weirdness possibility
