Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

The famous last words...Well whats the worst that could happen???

Heres my question! What will happen if i plug in an ECU from a 2001.5 Passat??? The ecu is flashed with the Tune that i want and is set to run 630cc injectors and the gt2871r turbo...SO the fuel will be correct and the timing also?? i understand that the CCM controlls windows, C/Locking etc so this wouldnt come into play i take it?...

So Whats the worst that could happen??

Just pay the so many hundred or so to get it flashed... better than that I'm guessing. Or better yet just ask them to check if it works, then if they say it won't then make a decision whether you want to pay them to re flash it.

Good luck with it though, I'd really like to see how this turns out! Is yours a manual or semi-auto?

        Lol don't you work neil?

damn your going to spend all the money on doing a gt28, and are to tight to get a good tune done on it, i say flash your computer or get a haltech interceptor so its then tuned to your car, not what its is ment or not ment to have,
mk4 the mods begin for round 2 hahahha

I do have 2 tuning options....that will run the car not a problem...its just that the guy i bought this setup from had an 2001.5 with a very very very nice tune...and so he is sending me the ecu but its not obviously going to be an option?? My main concern is that if i spend much more on this setup at this moment in time the GF will kill me....so i will just go the tune from atp which is a moderate tune which pushes about 22psi...Later on in the year i will prob get the eurodyne tune...but at the moment i dont thinki can quite afford it

You may as well port and polish the head while you're at it, get them sand flowed. All you have to do is pour the sand in where the oil goes, and run you car for a few mins. and job done.

seriuosly, as a few other have said, do it right or do it twice. actually no one else said that, but you get the idea.

                        Lol! Some animated replies...

I guess what they are saying is that they don't want to see all of this go to waste. You have what sounds like is going to be an awesome project going there. We hope to see it complete in 1 piece.

                        Good luck.
