i notice the intake position is different..!! OO" n they both 8V and is it possible to modify the top engine into the bottom one??

One looks like an Aussie delivered 2.0 GL and the other a Yankee 2.0 crossflow.
From observation the normal 8v Gti motor has bigger valves and bigger intake and throttle body.

they are both 8v engines the gti ones got a bigger cam and diffrent injector setup does the answer your question

That whole cylinder head and injection system would be a bolt on item. I't fit with no worries, but it'd probably cost you a lot and only yeild about 5-10 horsepower with no other modifications.

Not a bolt on item.
The Aus spec motor is the 2E Euro GTI 8v motor. Making 115hp.
Meanwhile that first picture is not a 2L, the plenum is different. I presume its a 1.8L jobbie.
The U.S spec, is quite correctly, a cross flow ABA motor.

The 2E is "old" technology in my books, even though it was still used up until the MkIV Cabriolet. It uses a AFM that is restrictive, and well, sucks.

Whereas the ABA uses a MAF.

Therefore, a swap of ECU and loom is required, as well as all the other things, the list goes on...

The 2.0L can only go so far, and a 1.8T or VR6 swap is the best way. I want the 1.8T swap, more fun, and easier to get power from...

It is a bolt on item and it will fit as I said. But as I also said you'd need to change the injection as well which includes all your MAF sensors etc.

While we're on cylinder head swaps. You can fit a 16v(ABF or KR) cylinder head to a 2L 2E bottom end with a distributor shaft mod and valve pockets in the pistons and have the result of a low compression 2L ripe for turbo charging or super charging.
I've also heard of 20v cylinder heads on 2L 16v bottom ends.
In fact you can interchange any mk2,3 or 4 four cylinder golf head onto and motor of the same likes. With modifications to the oil galleries of late model heads you can also fit some of these to mk1 bottom ends.
