Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

        1.8t

Looks great.Where are you and what sort of gearbox are you using.
        Is your mk2 a 4 or 2 door.
Have spoken to Ben about using his system too and with our k03s should get about 240 hp.

its a 2 door but im in Ireland, i lived in sydney for a year last year though!, i met a few of the guys from here at the vw nationals.

im using a mk4 golf gti o2j gearbox, the engine is from a seat leon but its the early non vvt version without the ko3s so its only 205 bhp on the QPE ecu

AWESOME conversion Ben's plug and play kits seem like the best way to go! Great value really and how simple if it only took you 30 mins! As Golfwise said, our 20V is an ARX from a 2001 Bora, so has a KO3S Turbo, good for 230hp with this plug and play kit! Keep us updated on your conversion

so does that mean it'll fit in a Mk2 Ibiza??? this could save me from selling it and buying something more expensive.

Nice Work Let us know how it goes when you get it running! Have to send off my harness to Ben to be modified and sent back with the rest of the kit! Pointless paying for a new harness!

So where is a good spot to source one of these motors and boxes???

I'm thinking a wrecked car, or a half cut, or even from a spare parts dealer....????

And the most important thing, how much for the motor and the rest...

                      (for a mk3)

Best source in Australia would be a damaged car auction. Go a week or so after a rainy spell.

There was a dude ( kennya ??) on the tex selling off his damaged Mk 4 GTi engine a while back, dunno if he ever sold it ?? IIRC he was asking about 5K for the mechanicals..

I paid 2500 US $ for a set of 2003 Jetta mechanicals..( all the stuff for the swap sans mounts..), but you can buy em in UK lots cheaper than that...then you have to get the bitz here..
                          Lots of MK 1 Scirocco's...

If it aint a MK 1 then it must be a donor car ??

                          Cheers,

There was side damaged 2003 Audi A3 that had a 1.8t and 5speed manual gearbox...

It ended up being sold for $6250...

Maybe next time i could get that, and strip the jesus out of the car!!

That seems a lot for a damaged car. Better to buy one that cant be reregistered as you get it cheaper.
