  • dual valve springs in 2.0 8v

Hi guys I have a bit of a problem at the moment.

I'm converting my 2.0 8v head to dual valve springs. I have set of autotech HD valve springs and diesel spring seats I was planning on using.

problem is my spring seats or even the springs themselves won't fit in the head where the original springs sat.

No one down here can machine the head a bit so the valve seats can sit
    in.

    Anyone experienced this problem?

    Need help

    Cheers

16v retainers, standard 8v valves, collets, buckets... New guides seals etc

This is just my opinion , Im sure there are guys more knowledgable in this engine than me .

276 cams with standard valves is too big . You need to match the valve size with cam specs . Id opt for 1mm oversize valves and a flowed head . 268 cams would be about the biggest I would use with stock valves . Remember its not just about lift and duration but flow as well !

If your serious in still running the 276 then lighten all your valvetrain components . Titanium retainers , collets , lightweight lifters . This will lower the weight of the valvetrain and require less force from the valve spring to close it at higher rpm . The reason for dual valve springs over single is to stop valve bounce/float . Running higher spring pressure wears out your cam lobes faster . My guess with your carby size , cam etc your not going to make much power over 6500 rpm so singles should still be fine . What venturi size have you worked out based upon head flow with the carbies ?

Thanks mate. Yea I've decided to stick with a 268 cam in the 2.0 head for now and save the lightweight gear for a flowed 1.8 head.

I have two sets of chokes. A 34 set and a 36. Most likely using 34 as that is what the jets will be set around
