  • MK IV Gti Tune - Melbourne

I've been considering tuning my MK IV GTI, but wanted to see which options I have other than APR. I've looked on the forum but couldn't pinpoint.

    Thanks in advance.

John at TigerSoft offer Viezu tunes plus coding work.

      Tigersoft

He is a fanatic - ask him about his M5

Edit - they are advertising 15% off all Viezu tunes until 30th June

Heaps of choice these days. On top of the ones mentioned above, I am visiting Melbourne on the 28th-30th of this month.

Custom-Code Phase 1 would be $650, I am chucking in a free diverter valve too.

Everyone makes the same power, just be sure that the car is well serviced and running ok in standard from. I have come across plenty of cars that have split vacuum pipes and need new DVs, sparkplugs, air filters, etc.

It makes the job much easier to have that stuff sorted out, rather than chasing it all down afterwards.

          Cheers

          Gavin

Gavin - are you seeing these issues in stock cars or tuned cars ?

If stock, looks like some poor quality by VW

Would be good for tuners and workshops to provide info on forums like this on what issues they have seen and likely effects on a car, as a sticky thread

            Would be very useful

Edit - spelling, stupid fat fingers

I think it would be common for any car of this vintage; MK4s can be 13 years old now and well into the 200,00km range.
              MK4 GTI - Sold
              MK5 Jetta Turbo - Sold
              MK5 Jetta 2.Slow - Until it dies.

I wouldn't say poor quality, but the Mk IV is a 10 year old car now and so many wear and tear items need to be replaced before attempting to run higher boost.

$630 for MK IV GTI here; as Gavin has said, everyone makes the same power for these, so you are spoilt for choice here. Just find the tuner you're most comfortable with and would be good if they're local. =) *hint*

How much of a difference roughly will a tune make to the fuel economy? I'm currently getting around 9.9l/100km.

First hand experience will be great.

Shouldn't make any difference to your economy, most likely improve it. All relative to how you drive after getting the tune done.

My Phase 1 S3 has a long term average of 7.9, including several good beatings around Lakeside. Lots of highway Ks but I aren't frightened to boot it!

That would have to be doing at least 50 hp more than you will get chipped and 100hp more than you have now.

                        Gavin

I've experienced GIAC and CC in a range of cars (including my own!) and they are my two favourite tuners, both have great further tuning options too
