Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

  • What next after stage 2+ Golf R

    Hi all,

I've just fitted a full TBE milltek to my Golf R and am pondering what to do next?

My current spec is 2010 R, APR stage 2 tune, APR CAI, APR HPFP, Milltek TBE Exhaust.

So what would the next step on the tuning ladder be?

I'm also keen to get it up on the rollers to see what sort of Dyno reading I would be getting? any suggestings on where to take my car for this.

    thanks for your comments
MY10 R, DSG, Recaros, ACC, Dynaudio, MDI, Stage 2 APR, CAI, APR HPFP

Ugghh- you are confirming my fears. My car is going in for Giac extreme next week and I am fearful that it will not be enough and I will then be tempted to keep going to stage 3 or change cars.

The next step would be a bigger turbo setup.

you will be happy with giac.
"Forced induction" sounds like some sort of sexual assault.

Turbo upgrade or massive weight removal (i.e. rear seats, performance alloys, sports front buckets)

APC at underwood are the people who dynoed mine. Only really suitable if you are southside but. Im curious to see another R go on their dyno for comparison sake.

Another suggestion for more power is Discharge/throttle pipe. Some people have claimed 10hp from these two pipes.

If your real keen you could try water/meth but I have been recommended not to bother as things tend to go bang if your not careful.

                    EDIT: maybe a dsg tune/upgrade

Rickardo, make sure you have the new software version 3.1 in your car. Free upgrade.

APC in Springwood have an all wheel Dyno Dynamics, Mercury Motorsport have the same in Newmarket - depends which side of town you are on!

How much were you charged by APR to get your Stage 2 tune?

Harding Performance have just acquired a hub dyno. I am sure they'd like to test it.
