Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

  • Twin Webers :)

Any body have any idea on whether I would be able to run twin Weber 40's on my 1.6L 8V? I know (& speaking with a gentleman at my work who's an engineer & is fairly familiar with carbs) that some of the older 1.6L Fiats (?) ran dual 40s?
So i'm just interested in seeing what anyone else thinks about running dual 40s, or perhaps if I should run dual 38s?
    Thanks!

I'd say a 32/36 single will be more than enough for a stock 1.6 mate. I know I felt a decent gain when I installed mine (which will be for sale not to long away).

I need to PM you as well, problems with that dash and shipping.

Yeah that was the original plan, along with finding a nice cam & exhaust till I can afford to build up the motor I have planned. However I figured i'd ask anyhow on here, all part of a learning curve I guess.
If you ever do sell yours PM me if you remember haha.

Okay no stress, I shall await your PM.
      Cheers!

Im running twin 40 webers on my standard 1.6 at the moment mate. My choke sizes are 28mm. Couldnt tell you the jet sizes sorry mate. have forgotten.

Choke size 28mm is too small. Although it does run beautifully when tuned well (and efficiently I might add) It still feels like it wants more.

28s are very small. would suit 1.0 Litre engine.

Yea. Bought the webers as a matching pair. Already had 28's in them. Threw them on the 1.6 just for fun. Was never going to do anything to the 1.6, just waiting for a 1.8 then Ill jet the webers accordingly.
