Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

  • New Car Dyno

I've just only hit 800km's on my engine. I'm going to install a tune tomorrow and want to dyno the car soon in the next few days. Is this advisable? I won't wreck the engine?

Anyone can recommend a centre with dyno facilities, and possibly know how much it will cost?

Why wouldn't they? The date has been set for some time now, and I do believe there are some people on the reserve list already even.

Wouldn't want to get this blokes hopes up, just in case they all do turn up!

I would so love to turn up but I've got to send my car in to the dealer to inspect the rear washer dripping water fault on my car.

My question still isn't answered though, is it a wise idea to dyno a car when the engine is still only hovering under 1000km's of use? How much will it normally cost to dyno a car?

It won't hurt it a bit. If you go to Wolfsburg & watch the GTI's come off the production line, they are redlined in every gear on a "rolling road".

Make sure your oil level is good!

My guess is, if anything is going to go "bang" or fall off, its best there, they can just send it back up the line!
