Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

  • K04 Installation in B5 ~ Australian spec for stock injector duty cycle.

Duplicate post. Sorry, I'm new here and didn't see this forum listed way below.

Can a moderator please remove the duplicate post from Passat B4 and onwards?

I am coming to terms or trying to, with the pros and cons of upgrading the K03 in my B5 wagon which is still working, to a K04-015 turbo.

Among the other possible or necessary upgrades for a successful K04 DIY installation, I need to consider what the stock B5 injectors are capable of.

I have been told that US spec B5s will limit stock injectors to 16.32ms but that European spec vehicles are not and that European B5 injectors duty cycles can be as high as 26ms. Doesn't anyone know whether Australian B5 injectors are limited or not?

Or does that no longer matter if my ECU has been chipped to a sedate 190HP?

I have a Ross-Tech VAG-COM and could go out onto road to read the the injector codes under maximum engine load but wonder if any one here might know and could spare me the trouble?

My notebook also doesn't have a battery capable of holding charge and I don't (yet) have a 12V notebook power adapter.
