Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

  • basic mods to get started

hey everyone, i love this forum and has helped me get to know my new golf very well.

i have recently bought a used golf 4th gen. GLE, and am now looking for a bit more power from the little 2L engine, and im woundering what are some good basic mods that don't cost to much and bring a decent outcome. i know i'am not looking for 500hp gains, just a few simple things. i have seen that a cold air intake is a reasonably good way to go, what brands would you guys and gals recommend ?? also i was looking at a tune at bps tuning in brissy, but is it worth the money for the stage 1 tune ? is it a noticeable difference. also where would i go to get these cold air intakes ? what kind of car shops would stock them ? is it a simple thing that i could install myself at home, (limited mechanical knowledge though).

thank you for your help !
