Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

  • Anyone have an APR TBE exhaust on their Mk6 GTI?

    Hi Folks,

Does anyone on the forum have an APR TBA RSC exhaust on their Mk6 GTI? Reason being is that I was hoping said person could please take a vdeo or sound recording of the exhaust from inside the car, both revving and also at cruising speeds.

    Cheers,

    Pete

Asking someone to take a video of their GTI to guage the sound quality of an exhaust is practically useless.

For example, here is an 8 minute video of a Stage 3 MK6 GTI doing laps around Eastern Creek which was posted yesterday. This car has the full TBE RSC exhaust on it (but it also has intake, intercooler, turbo and probalby other mods too). Anyway, my point is, watching this video, and listening to the sound, obviously something nothing like the car does in real life.

In addition, even if you accept that the sound quality is not going to be representative of real life, the person won't be able to take a recording with the stock exhaust and then the RSC exhaust so you have even a valid comparison to judge how inaccurate their recording equipment, the encoding process, and your playback equipment is.

My suggestion would be that you contact your local APR dealer in WA and see if they have a MK6 GTI with the RSC exhaust fitted. If they do, they are usually more than happy to take you for a drive in it so you can experience it properly.

Failing this, APR's product page for the MK6 RSC Exhaust has a comparison video with professional sound equipment used to give you the most accurate sound (although I'm not sure if it has an interior recording since I'm at work and can't access youtube).

Additionally, each exhaust and engine will make a slightly different note due to the manufacturing process and varying sources of materials.

There have been a couple of MK6 GTI full exhausts delivered to WA - If you contact Brian @ Quattro Motors, he may be able to put you in touch with an owner to hear it first hand!
