Brake Pads

ok, so does anyone know if the brake pads in my 78 Golf GLS, would be the same as pads from a 79 Golf GLD?? i need to know desperately

No, diesel pads are thinner.

ok, but to save me pulling out my pads (from my GLS) to show a guy whos getting me brake pads (for my GLS), he needs to see the pads, cos theres different kinds. could i just take an old set from my GLD and show him those to get the pad for my GLS, that what im refering too

There are only two kinds and the backing plate is the same.
GLS=thick
GLD=thin

Just make sure that they are original as many GLDs have had the brakes replaced with GLS brakes as it is cheaper and better.
