    Found these in UK ebay

Anyone got an opinion or know if this sort of kit is available down here?

    Great stuff...Sometimes

Urethane is fantastic for shockies, steering etc, but it's a bit hard for engine mounts. A hell of a lot of vibration and noise can be transferred from the engine/transmission to the body and you need a bit of softness to absorb it. Urethane is too hard. Later VWs used hydraulic mounts that cut the vibration transfer to almost nil. Diesels are awful unless the mounts are good and properly aligned.

Not that worried about noise/vibration (have you seen some of the tracks we rally on??? ) but if you are suggesting that teh chassis might be damaged by the transferred vibrations... that is a great reason not to go this route

      Thanks

      Charles.

Bluerex, I had all that lot on my 2litre BV head mk1. The front one makes the dash vibrate badly at tickover, other wise it's not a problem. The rear GB mount is an essential item if you have a 4 branch fitted. Stops no end of cracking.
As an alternative, the diesel golf rear mount is still rubber but heavier duty. Not so good for 4 branches though.

The rest of it for suspension would be worth fitting to stop unwanted movement.

Superflex I think are an Australian company that do all this stuff.
In the UK they are available from here....http://www.rallydesign.co.uk/catalog...oducts_id=5126

I don't think they have a rear mount though. Could be wrong

I have to respect you for doing a MK1 for Rallying, personally I would stick to tarmac if I still had one.

        Cheers
        Gavin

HeHe, at least I am not alone - others are going down this track (pun) too

My brother has just imported a 1986 M3 BMW - that will be the tarmac car. The golf is just for a bit of dirty sideways fun
