  • vr6 head rebuild/machinist

hey all im after someone in melbourne that has experience with heads
    preferably with vr6 heads
hopefully budgeting for about a grand to get it done

    iv recently bought some parts
    268 cams
    light lifters
    hd springs
    2mm oversized intake valves
    1.8mm mm oversized exhaust valves
    and all the rest
oh and a second hand head from loon with which i will be purchasing very soon
basically im after the maximum potential the head has to offer with reliability

dude i just ordered pretty much the same stuff.
a little different though, 262 cams, 2mm oversized intake and exhaust valves, and all otehr replacables.
i was thinking of using HeadFix. they said with all parts supplied they can rebuild, install cams, bigger valves and port and polish for about $1000. might wanna check them out.
they were recommended to me by a guy i work with who used to own Volkscare, he's had all his head work done there and he's got race and drag cars and stuff so i suppose they'll know what they are doing.
they sounded like they had done some things with these heads before and they were helpful when talking to them too. maybe give them a call 97293380 and see what you think of them

the fact that people are really puttin some money/time into vr's makes me happy!
in america everyone's got some hotted up vr or 1.8t, but there's hardly any here per capita like there is over there. good to see its becoming more and more frequently seen!

im not sure where headfix are located, but ferntree gully rings a bell. google them should be able to find them.
i might give that group in box hill a call too and see how they go price wise and experience wise as well. gotta keep an open mind, and if they've had more experiance then they would be the better option

RG Bakers have done some VR6's.

They have done my 8v head, my 1200 and all my fathers work! He used to work there some 25 years ago. Did every Walkinshaw head as there was a floor in the factory machining. Thats how dad saved up to buy his first Mk1.

looks like im probably going to go with R G Baker.
he seemed a little more interested and asked more questions of me which i thought was a good sign. questions to do with NI and possible FI, what style of driving its going to be used for blah blah blah.
probably be gettin them to do my work through the last couple weeks of january, reinstalling hopefully in the first week of febuary so i can take it to SEDF. we'll see how i go though.

If u havent had urs done by then ill let you know how i go with R G Baker if i end up goin with them. or whoever i end up doing with anyway!
