If youre gonna modify your car then get it serviced at an independant VW specialist. Simple. No need to worry about dealers unless you have a warranty claim. Just return it to stock before you go in.

I thought that is you went with APR the map was undetectable, at least thats what they state on their webpage as below?

"All APR ECU Upgrades are fully encrypted to prevent theft of our valuable and proprietary coding information by lesser companies and to provide protection to our clients by keeping the upgrade undetectable to a dealership's VAG diagnostic tool."

It is if you enable security lock out like you're suppose to..

Agree with Tim too, independents are not only competitive but also you usually know who's working on your car. Getting services at the dealer may be good for building a relationship if you have a claim however.
