  • Dissy advance curve G grind cam

    Hi all
I'm after info on what the dissy advance curve is when using a G grind cam in an 8 valve solid lifter 1.6 engine. I'm thinking the specs for an original Mk 1 GTI would be a good starting point. I don't know what the engine number prefix is for the original heron head GTI engines so I'm not sure if I have the info in my Haynes manual. Also does the GTI have vac advance and retard and what comp ratio do they run.

    Cheers

EG would be the engine code. Not sure on the comp ration probs close to 10:1.

The early 1600GTIs had advance and retard on points dissys. The later ones had electronic dissys and ignition amps.

Sorry not got any more info for you.

        Hi all
Thanks for those bits of info. I assumed maybe wrongly that the G grind cam was just the stock GTI cam. I think I'll need to investagate the subject futher. I'm looking at getting some more grunt out of the rally car for next season and I want to get it set up properly. Basically thinking G grind cam,
45mm side draft weber ,GTI header pipes and 10:1 comp if I can get the latter organized.

        Cheers
