I wasn't 'hooked up'. I own an R32.
I could SWEAR that the R32 WAS on the banned list. But I am led to believe they 'reviewed' the rules, to allow for V6 cars under 200kW.
In answer to original question:
Gav is pretty much making the most sense.
Having a light, fun and nimble car will be great. Without spending too much money on ppower gains with negligible returns, you can save for other things.

If the R32 isn't for you, buy a Mk5 GTD Sport and flash-tune it.
I really really really really really really wish I had done that

i'm not saying that everyone who bought an R was 'hooked up'. its just i see heaps of them around chatswood with red p plates on with bumpers all scratched up because they can't drive for ****. an example a couple of years ago when my classmate just got his p's, mummy and daddy bought optioned up mk5 r32 for him. i worked all my arse off and could only afford an '01 bora with over 170k on the clock. so don't take is as an offenseOriginally posted by dainese View PostI wasn't 'hooked up'. I bet you get more satisfaction from driving your car though.. I know I do when I drive my Jetta as opposed to driving my old Bora that my parents bought me. Sure I can't do as much as I use to, but at least this car is mine (or St George's.. Whichever way you wanna look at itOriginally posted by Yevvy View Posti'm not saying that everyone who bought an R was 'hooked up'. its just i see heaps of them around chatswood with red p plates on with bumpers all scratched up because they can't drive for ****. an example a couple of years ago when my classmate just got his p's, mummy and daddy bought optioned up mk5 r32 for him. i worked all my arse off and could only afford an '01 bora with over 170k on the clock. so don't take is as an offense

Back on topic though; would extractors and exhaust make a difference on a 1.6/2.0 Golf?2002 Volkswagen Bora V5 - 2007 Mazda 3 GT - 1998 Ford Contour Sport - 2010 Volkswagen Jetta 2.0T - 2013 Volkswagen Passat 130TDI - 2015 Ford Escape 1.5 - 2016 Subaru WRX - 2018 Volkswagen Golf R Wolfsburg Wagon

There are allowances for forced induction.
Eg from here:
Examples of moderate performance turbo/supercharged vehicles that may be eligible for exemption include (but are not limited to):
Audi 1781cc, A3 and A4
Mercedes-Benz 1796cc, C180, CLK200K, E200K, C200, C230 and SLK 200K
Saab 1988 cc, 9-3 Linear, Arc and Vector
Volvo 2521cc, S80, XC70 and XC90
Volkswagen 1400cc Golf 90TSI 118TSI, 1400cc Jetta 118TSI and 2000cc Tiguan 125TSI
The Passat 1.8T and Golf 4 GTI (same 1.8T as the A3 and A4 on this list) used to be listed under VW but the eligible cars list has been updated.

My wife is just about to get her Ps...
She is going to go for the exemption on driving our MkV GTI as its the only auto available to drive (Pogo and MkII are both manual obviously)...she is 30 and needs it for work and taking kids to school so I reckon she should be right with the exemption, what do you reckon?
1986 MkII Golf GTI 16V (Sold), 2005 MkV Golf GTI (Sold), 2007 Polo GTI (Sold), 2011 Polo 66TDI (Selling), 2012 Passat 125 TDI Bluemotion, 2013 Scirocco R (Due October!)

You have 3 cars in the family, they'll probably ask her to learn to drive manualOriginally posted by anarchycamp View PostMy wife is just about to get her Ps...

All P platers are hoons and a danger to other drivers when behind the wheel of performance vehicles.Originally posted by anarchycamp View PostMy wife is just about to get her Ps...

Im one of the lucky onesOriginally posted by team_v View PostProbably allowed due to the fact it was easier to ban turbo's than crack down on cars with power figures over a certain amount.
Also how many P Platers do you see driving an R32/R20?

i know p platers who drive concrete pumps (massive machines that look like cranes) on there ps and they need a heavy rigid licence or something like that and you cant get that on ur ps... but exemption allowed it coz it was for work. U'll be sweet as for the p plate thing... i took of the gti badge
