  • TIP - better brands?

looking at a TIP to go with my ECU flash, and a bit or research has led me to two main brands... Forge and Samco...

Just wondering if there is much difference in quality etc

remember reading a thread on here once which mentioned that one was tougher than the other (ie. less kinking under boost etc) but im not sure which one was the better one... a search brought up nothing...

on that note, if there are any other brands that anyone can reccomend id be keen to hear your thoughts...

    cheers, dan

I have one of the APR ones on my car.

The quality is right up there with the best.

Firstly lets look at why people replace these. The standard one is prone to flexing under boost particularly with chipped cars.

If you have ever handled one of the standard ones you'll see why, they are pretty flimsy. Very unusual for VW/Audi to under engineer something.

You can pay top dollar for the samco or forge ones, but I'm yet to hear a bad report from someone who is using one of the cheaper autobarn88 (or something like that) silicone TIP's. I've got one sitting downstairs somewhere amongst a pile of other goodies I have and I have also had a samco one before. Both are a far superior to the standard issue one from VW, but there isn't much between them.

As for fitment issues, I know of only one person who had to modify theirs. Either way, these are a complete pain to fit unless your well equiped. I doubt you could pick the difference in the quality between either.

i have a Forge one fitted to mine. The quality is top notch, but having said that, I have had a good look at an APR one, and that is great too, and a tad more stiffer than the Forge one.
