when i bought my kr 16v it was being built up for a passat ( north south engine)i now presume the oil pump is different as the windage tray i have would nt fit over the oil pump.
can anyone shed some light on this for me

What Passat though? as early 90s 16v Passats with the 9a were FWD transverse engines like a golf.

yeah 8v audis and passats have different oil pickups and sumps to golfs.
I know a few golfs that are running around with the audi sump, to no detriment, so it doesnt matter much, unless you are trying to get a flash windage tray on
