  • Installing Aftermarket Wheel + Boss

    Morning Guys,

Went to put on one of my Chrissy prezzies this morning, and when i place the Boss kit onto the Mk2 steering column it seems to want to short something out. I got a little crackle and some tiny smoke. So I quickly took it off. Everything works fine, no shorts. But any ideas what it could be??? I'm at a loss when it comes to car electrics... and dont want to blow anything.

    Thanks in advance..LVD

If you look at your steering column you should see a small, thin spring steel plate sitting up near the middle, this contacts on the brass ring of your original boss and a wire with spade connectors in the centre completes the circuit when you press the horn.

I would check that this is what is occuring and that your new boss is exactly the same as the original.

X2 and check your fuses there is a good chance your horn fuse needs replacing now. I wouldnt replace it until after you fit the boss kit and steering wheel so you dont burn another one.
