  • Mk4 GTI exhaust

I fitted this APR exhaust yesterday morning. Perfect fit and very straight forward to assemble. Didn,t have any clearance problems as I have with different brands in the past. Sourced a 4motion rear lower bumper section, genuine.
It sounds very nice, a deep burble at idle with a nice unobtrusive deep note when driving. Check it out. Cheers, Andrew

Seeing that makes me want to buy a mk4 now!!!

What sort of power gains would one get from a system like that? Has the owner done any other mods?

The computer has been chipped. APR claim gains of 10 kws.
I didn't drive the car before but it went alright afterwards. The customer will let me know, but it is his wifes car. He drives a Nissan 200 SX. An intake is next......

Looks quite good and fat tubing.
Who makes APR and do they have any for MK2's ? In the pic, am I blind not to see the cat or is it that little bubble after the O2 sensor ? Do they make downpipes also ?

The name of the company is APR. American. That "bubble" thing is the cat, very observant. No, sorry, they don't mave anything for the mk2. The downpipe on the mk4 is a reasonably new release, that being it is different to the LHD version. It is a great design, like the mk5 one that should still be found in pics on this forum. The mk4 system sounds exactly the same as the mk5 system.
The longest part of the whole job is lowering the rear suspension to remove the old system. Sure, you can cut the old one but I prefer not to in case the customer decides to re,install it later on. Cheers, Andrew

Ok, thanks for that. Have you done any MK2 exhausts, headers or downpipes ? I have a Jetex cat back, but found it difficult to make the rear twin pipes to sit centre in the rear recess of the bumper

I fitted a system years ago on my old black 2 door mk2, now 86gtis. I think it was a full Bosal job and I lost power! Removed it pretty smartly too!

Hi, I'm back. Yep, that is the 4motion rear lower section. Genuine part. You need to trim a very small sectionof the body to fit it. Nothing major and takes about 5 minutes
