Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

    Great weather out at Phillip Island on Sunday.

    Couldn't get better than a 2:06 due to some pretty frustrating traffic.

    Videos are coming but without data overlays. I pressed a few too many buttons on the data logger!

        Very cool! Looks like fun.
        Have you tried running you suspension setup a little lower and firmer? If so, how much difference did it make?

          Nope, not really, too low isn't the best for track work, you need working suspension.

          Started off with King Springs over AC Delco shocks and upgraded to Koni Sport adjustables with the same springs after a year or so.

          Next car has Koni coilovers and will see more adjustment of ride settings.

            Went climbing hills at Haunted Hills on Sunday. Lousy weather, everytime I lined up it poured with rain.

            Organisers decided to trial an untested track config on us and one racer totalled his car because of it. I had a few nervous moments at the same point as well which I recovered from but it could have been nasty. Not a happy ending to the day.

            Other than that I got a few good runs in but didn't bother recording times as the conditions meant that I was never going fast.

                Here's the in car footage. I've put all the runs in the one video. There were a couple more but the camera went flat.

                Not sure why it didn't upload in HD, I'm working on a new PC.

                    Fun day today out at Sandown. Ran pretty consistently around the 1:37 mark.

                    Got some good clean runs and the other drivers were all pretty friendly on and off the track so overall a good day.

                    Quite a few of my group were slower than me including a couple of e30 BMWs which was a bit of a surprise to me but even a more of a surprise to their owners as I out legged them on the straights.

                                That data logger and camera setup is pro, though the audio was slightly off I think?

                                What battery do you use as well? I'm looking for one at the moment.
