Yes I have. I fact I have done that to one of my other cars.

This set was second hand when I got it and not a good candidate for coating.

I tried to start the car to check all was well with the refit and found it just wouldn't start.

Took a bit of figuring out but the issue wasn't due to any mis assembly.

One of the needle valves is actually faulty.

Stuffed if I know how the car ran for the last round.

Now the search is on to find a needle and seat assembly before Winton on the weekend.

Anybody got a 150 needle and seat for a 40mm Dellorto DHLA lying about? Part number 8809.150

Found a needle and seat assembly. I'll load it up tonight and check the float levels.

These are the go to guys for Dellorto and Weber stuff if anyone else gets stuck.

Here's the offending item. I had to pull the base off the carb to find the tiny broken off piece but I had to be sure of where it went.

With that piece broken off the spring was not contained and expanded to the point that it held the seat closed not allowing fuel into the float bowl.



I got the new seat installed and everything back together again and it's all running well.

Hmmm just pulled the top off the RHS carb again to find that I've broken another needle assembly.

No obvious cause. Might be time to start using soft mounts rather than direct mounting. Might replace the float assembly too just to be on the safe side.

Does explain the sudden power loss in the 4the round.
