Great conditions today, set another PB and broke into the 1:36 realm.

Got some great runs in with very little traffic and the car was flying.

Extractors are shot, the little air leak from last run has turned into a great big hole in the header somewhere.

Sounds fantastic but the stewards will probably have something to say about it soon so I'll have to pull it out of there and point the MIG at it until it's fixed.

Got some interesting video footage. I had an extra camera to play with so I've got some rear facing and interior video as well asthe forward facing 3D stuff.

I'll see what I can come up with as I edit it all and upload it.

Pulled the extractors out today and welded them up. Two of the pipes had come adrift at the first collector.

If you were wondering why heat wrapping mainfolds reduces their life, take a look at these photos.

Looks like some sort of annealing process going on.

These things would be glowing red hot during a race, they're not going to stand up to much more than another year of this I think.

what does wrapping the exhaust manifold actually achieve?? does it keep the heat in the pipes to keep the engine cooler?:S

Helps with flow. Hot exhaust gas doesn't like to pass thru a cold pipe. The pipe takes away the energy and you lose gas speed. Keep the pipes hot, less energy lost= Better flow.
