hey mate, hows the car going? quick question about your 02a if i may. What clutch you running my 020 is starting to slip so Im thinking of going to 02a root with cable shift like a Seat Ibiza. Not much documentation on the shifter box either but I assume it goes in easy.
Heya guys, sorry for the lack of updates, but the new new job is just mental at the mo and my home internet has been down for two weeks.
First of all, tommymac its a standard sachs VR6 clutch. The details are all in the previous pages somewhere, but the cable shifter goes in easy enough. The base of the cable shifterbox is a bit longer and narrower than the old 020 one, but you can bolt it up to the floor with some extra holes and the upper part fits perfect into the inside console area. Its all pictured back a few pages dude.
Grant (roccodingo) has been coming over and helping me out, so massive thanks to you mate!!
We figured out a way of routing the water flow thru the turbo cooling lines by using this little outlet here:
... and running a little line under the intake manifold to the turbo line which we trimmed here:
I also filed the master cyl back for some safety clearance so the cam belt doesnt smash against it under load when the engine rocks back
And Grant being the champ he is made up this throttle cable bracket for me.
This is the temporary brake vacuum line until i get time to do it a bit neater. Does the job!
We also have decided to relocate the battery to the boot. So far we've just ran some welding cable thru the bulkhead and under the carpets. The terminals and connections still need to be done:
There's also been lots of little jobs i've been chipping away at. Cleaned out the brake fluid reservoir and re-installed it, had to repaint the top charge pipe coz it got squirted with petrol while we were trying to figure out which fuel line was the feed & return, and I've fitted up some aluminium coolant pipes too.
NEARLY THERE NOW!
