Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

  • MK3 VR6 Brake upgrades

After reading how simple an upgrade the 312mm TT upgrade is on a MK4, i was wondering what would be involved in the same upgrade on a VR6.

As i already have the 288mm disks and calipers, would i only need the carriers, and disks?

Is there a better upgrade for similar money?

what would be the differance between these (TT) and VR6 brakes with better pads and slotted rotors?

will the 312mm fit in a 15" rim?

Don't know if the 312s fit a mk3 but you would defo need 16s. I have them on my A3.

u need to space out the caliper a little bit too. ecs tuning sell a spacer kit with longer bolts
minimum 16" rim. depending on the design not all 16s will fit tho
