16v factory ignition module wiring

  • 16v factory ignition module wiring

    have both module and tci switch

    ignition switched +ve to coil positive
    have Black and Black/white wires to coil +ve

    green to -ve coil

    have thick Black wire from tci switch to earth (this one im uncertain)

    have hall sensor plugged in

    have Brown to earth
    owned a number of mk1 golfs have a collection of spare parts project golf is a 78 2 door

    I think black should be live.

        wirewing mad

        when i put that wire with the thick black sheath and brown inner to +ve the ingition lights comes on even with the ingition switched off.

        not sure whats going on thanks for the responce guys

          You probably have the wires to the coil on the opposite sides.

            Brown is always earth. Black is ignition +.(15)
            Don't worry about sheath as they are always black or grey.

              That black is definitely the earth and in probably long enough to get to the battery earth terminal.

              Best advice is to get the Haynes manual that covers the 16V wiring. It has a green cover and not red.

                    black sheath brown was negitive

                    thanks for the responce Brown wire black sheath was negitive..

                    Got spark yeah!

                    got a vw cabrio relay for the fuel pump got it wired sweet

                    this project is finally coming together

                      As I said, brown is always negative.

                      To test the fuel pump relay, turn the ignition on and pump should only work for a few seconds.
