  • Benny's MK2 GTI

ok, some things will start happening to the mk2 from now on.
so ive made this thread to keep ppl up to date on whats going on with my pride and joy...lol

part one will be my run in with the transport when they checked my car over to clear a defect.
the guy drove the car up the ramps and used the door to lower himself to the ground (big guy, huge fella) snap goes the welds on the bottom hinge...
then told me i better get that fixed.
all is well, we ripped the door off n welded it up on monday.
    few pics.............

soon its time to start getting it ready for a fresh coat of paint. but a few more lil bits to do first.
    keep ya's posted

Yea, its all good now. got it passed yesterday.
the paint is ok, bit faded on the bonnet and roof, and some paint coming off on the rear pannel, otherwise a few scratches annoy me every time i look at it. A buff would bring it up ok, but I would still see the scratches etc.
and once its done it will be a weekend car only.....the GTiR will become my daily driver. then ill start worrying about the mk1 a bit more. oh, too many things to do

          new wheels

Got my new rims today. second hand Volk replicas.
bit reminisant of a big ATS cup (sort of) lol.
wanted something with dish but still enough clearance for some Ajustable coil overs at a later date.
will have centers painted black and cleaned up when the car gets painted

couple of little dings in one of the rims, and a couple of chips in the paint, but they in good nick.

Passanger side is fine, drivers is a bit worn in the side bolstering wher you get in and out, worn a bit of a hole, otherwise fine.
Id recover them if i could get the same pattern .
dont know what i will do with em yet. Might sell em, ill keep ya posted

the STRAIGHT stone tray has now been fitted and the spoiler is back on.
No more hitting hoppers ont he highway for me.(thanks again Andrew)
Tinted rear lights back in (after the trans-inspection) and also my driving lights...so basicly it's all back together. Found a couple of race seats off "knupflog" so hopefully have them in a couple of weeks when i get financial again.
Ill give it a good polish on the weekend and post up some new pics.
